The Board of Directors is responsible for the governance of the company and the appropriate organization of the company’s operations.

The Board of Directors has confirmed a written Charter prescribing the duties of the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors advances the company’s strategy, organization, accounting and financial management principles. The Board of Directors also nominates the Chief Executive Officer of the company.

According to the Articles of Association, the company is managed by the Board of Directors, which includes no fewer than three and no more than six ordinary members. One to six deputy members may also be elected to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors elects a Chairman from among its members. The term of the members of the Board of Directors shall be until the conclusion of the first Annual General Meeting following the election.

Markus Mäki

Markus Mäki (b. 1974) is one of the founders of Remedy and a member of its Board since 1995, and one of the pioneers of the Finnish game industry with experience of over 20 years. He has participated in every Remedy game project, mainly in production and technology management roles.

The entrepreneurial Mäki has also participated in, for example, the founding of Futuremark Ltd, where he was in charge of several client projects with international technology companies, including Intel, NVIDIA and AMD. Mäki was a member of the Board of Directors at Futuremark for 15 years.

He is currently a deputy board member at O2 Arkkitehdit Ltd. Mäki obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English at the Espoo-Vantaa Institute of Technology, (currently Metropolia).

Christian Fredrikson

Christian Fredrikson (b. 1964) is the Chief Executive Officer of the Swedish biometrics company Fingerprint Cards AB (Large Cap STO:FING-B). Before moving to Sweden, Fredrikson was the Chief Executive Officer of F-Secure Plc.

He has extensive experience of international management positions in high-tech companies, including Head of Asia Pacific Region and Head of OBS Business Unit at Nokia Siemens Networks. Fredrikson lived in Asia for 10 years in total. He holds a Master’s degree in engineering from Åbo Akademi University, Turku.

Jussi Laakkonen

Jussi Laakkonen (b. 1975) acted as the Executive Vice President and a Member of the Executive Board of the American game technology company Unity Technologies, steering the company’s new mobile game service. Previously Laakkonen was the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Applifier Ltd, which was acquired by Unity Technologies in the spring of 2014 in a bid to expand operations in Applifier’s rapidly growing video advertising network and the mobile game replay network Everyplay.

Prior to Applifier, Laakkonen held product development and management positions at the data security company F-Secure Plc, was the Business Development Director at the independent game developer Bugbear Entertainment, as well as managed the ASSEMBLY computer festival for nearly 25 years. Laakkonen is a board member at Vorago Holdings Ltd. He holds a Master’s degree in computer engineering from the Helsinki University of Technology (currently Aalto University).

Ossi Pohjola

Ossi Pohjola (b. 1957) is one of the most experienced management professionals and consultants in Finland. His experience in international IT management positions spans over 30 years, including at Oracle and Andersen Consulting. Pohjola has actively participated in developing several growth companies from a management position. After embarking on a career of a professional board member in 2002, he has been a board member in over thirty companies. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in computer science at the University of Helsinki.

Henri Österlund

Henri Österlund (b. 1971) is the founder of Accendo Capital SICAV-RAIF, which creates shareholder value through active ownership. Previously Österlund has served as a Partner of Coventum Corporate Finance, Partner of Triton Private Equity investment fund in London, and as an Analyst at Doughty Hanson Private Equity fund in Stockholm.

He began his career at Landesbank Schleswig-Holstein in Kiel. In addition to Remedy, he the Chairman of SSH.COM (publ), Vice Chairman of Doro AB (publ), and the owner of Ferdinand S.à.r.l. and Ferdinand Holdings SLU, Österlund holds a Master’s degree in economics from the Helsinki School of Economics (currently Aalto University).
